Chicago Day 1

When I hit Springfield, I realized I was running very ahead of schedule. It was about twenty to nine. I needed to blow those twenty before I could give Amy her wake up call. So I went to the McDonald’s and took a big crap.

Got up early today, about 30 before my alarm. Got some gas, some cash, and was on the road by 7:25. I had made plans to visit Amy yesterday, so I wanted to be there before noon so we could go to lunch. Last time I was there it took me a long time to get there.

When I hit Springfield, I realized I was running very ahead of schedule. It was about twenty to nine. I needed to blow those twenty before I could give Amy her wake up call. So I went to the McDonald’s and took a big crap. I was crusing down Veteran’s Parkway, my windows down with the Eminem up high, banging on my steering wheel with a licorice stick when I pulled up next to an old couple at a stoplight. I know there were looking at me, but I figure what the hell do care what you think. When I got to Amy’s it was about 10. I was supposed to take her to lunch, so we decided on Panera’s. Lunch was good, and I ended up leaving around noon.

Dave said that Pontiac was about an hour outside Bloomington, and that Joliet was about an hour north of that. Wrong. Pontiac was about 20 out of Bloomington. I skipped that, and went to Joliet, walked around a bit, and hit the road.

I hit chi-town about 3, went straight to the hotel. After about 2 hours of chillin’ I was ready to do something. I gave Michelle a ring, and we decide to get some food. We ate at Pizzeria Due, which is the second location of Pizzeria Uno, which is actually one block down, and across the street. I had never had a Chicago style pizza. But it was very good, I was impressed.

After dinner we walked down to Millennium Park. It’s a large “artsy” park in Chicago. There are a number of contemporary art sculptures there, including two large brick waterfall screens, that they show images on, and also a giant chrome bean.

Tomorrow I am planning on attending a technology job fair at Navy Pier. I’ve only been to Navy Pier once, and it was a huge let-down. Hopefully, the job fair won’t turn out the same. I want to visit for a while with my aunt, maybe I can take her out for a late lunch. I’m planning on attending Second City tomorrow with Michelle, and her friend Rachel.
