RoboFridge is a mobile robot that pulls a refrigerated trailer that can hold up to 12, 12 ounce cans of your favorite beverage. I have posted some pics of the first mock-up for RoboFridge. The mock-up was just for me to see how big something like this would be. Check back, over the coming weeks as I add more pictures, and post my designs.
RoboFridge is a mobile robot that pulls a refrigerated trailer that can hold up to 12, 12 ounce cans of your favorite beverage. It keeps your beverage cool using peltier effect modules (PEM) or sometimes called thermoelectric coolers.
This is actually exactly how those very small office fridges work. They use PEM”s to keep a small area cool. Here is a link to a nice one: Budwiser Can Fridge.
The refrigeration system will require 5 Amps, and can operate between 3 and 12v DC, providing a temperature difference from the ambient temperature between 10 and 40 degrees F. By reversing the flow of current through the PEM’s, the trailer can keep its contents warm.
5 Amps is a lot of current to supply to a mobile device. To help ease this problem, a microcontroller will be used to poll the internal temperature of the trailer. As long as the interior temperature is below a certain level, the PEM’s will be off. When the temperature rises, the microcontroller will activate the PEM’s to cool the trailer and its contents.
